Loinloom Woven Puan-Chei is GI Textile from Mizoram.
“Mizo Puan Chei” is a traditional art of Mizo Textile from the state of Mizoram in northeast India. The Mizo people have a rich cultural heritage, and this textile plays a significant role in their celebrations and festivals. “Puan” refers to a traditional Mizo shawl worn by women, and “Chei” means dance.
The Mizo Puan Chei is performed by women and is characterized by graceful movements and vibrant costumes. The dancers wear traditional Mizo attire, including the Puan, which is draped over their shoulders and wrapped around their waists. The shawl is usually adorned with intricate designs and vibrant colors, reflecting the rich cultural motifs of the Mizo community.
