K Babita, is an artisan cum entrepreneur from Manipur, who started the proprietorship firm Natural Textile Collection in year 2006 at the age of 28. She has done PG Diploma in Co-operative Management. She is also running an NGO called Centre for Multipurpose Productive Organization (CMPO) in Manipur for the upliftment of rural youth by educating them the art of handicrafts and providing marketing platform for their products.
She has participated in numerous exhibitions of International Levels like Indian Hadicrafts & Gift Fair etc. She has rich experience of marketing & product development.
She observed that Manipuri artisans specially kauna grass were doing business in bits and pcs. There was no sustainable business for them. She thought of making these products export worthy and suitable for high-end clients. She took it as challenge and starting doing value addition in products.
She engaged artisans in basic shape and sizes and thus increased their productivity and income. Then she changed these basic shapes and sizes to various utility products at other end without disturbing artisans output. She got success and now, number of groups of artisans are engaged making basic shapes and sizes for her on continuous basis.
